EMMET TILL CASE!

The brutal murder of Emmet Till happened on August 28th, 1955.

Emmet Till was a 14 year old black boy from Chicago who had

come down to Mississippi to visit cousins. He didnt really understand

segregation (blacks and whites seperated). So one day he was

hanging out with a couple of friends. They went into a public

store and he bought candy. The store owners wife (a white woman)

was working. When he left he shouted back over his shoulder "bye baby!"

Roy Bryant (her husband) murdered him. He and his 1/2

brother J.W. Milam kidnapped Emmet Till in the middle of the night.

They beat him harshly, and he was alive so they made him suffer.

Then they shot him untill he was dead and threw him in a river.

A while later the body was found and Bryant and Milam were

charged for the murder. Emmets mother had the body shipped

to her and double checked to make sure it was her son. Then she

had an open body funeral so everyone could see what they

did to him.
