MANIAC SHOT LINCOLN AND ON THE RUN!

Last night at 9:00, President Abraham Lincoln climbed up the presidential stairs to his box in Ford's Theater to watch the play "Our American Cousin," which starred Laura Keene and Harry Hawke. Lincoln was carried down those stairs at about 10:00. John Wilkes Booth, who is known to have greatly disliked Lincoln, some how snuck into the presidential box and shot our president in the back of the head. Booth also stabbed Henry Rathbone, the president's guest who tried to help Lincoln, in the arm. Booth then made a not-so-smooth exit out of the box-by jumping out the window. One of Booth's spurs got caught in the flag that hung on the side of the box and fell onto the stage. Doctors who have investigated said that a fall like that would likely fracture an ankle. General Ulysses S. Grant might have been killed, too, if he had not declined the offer of Lincoln to come with him to the play because his wife was sick.(Whitney wrote this.)

After Booth landed on the stage he got up and hobbled out the back entrance, onto his horse and rode away. When Booth had entered the box he stuck a piece of a music stand in the door so that it would be harder for anyone to get in and help Lincoln. When a doctor finally did get in he noticed right away that the wound was fatal. Lincoln was carried across the street where he still is right now. No one has found the murderer of our great president but we are looking for him now. If anyone finds any news of him please contact us. There is a $100,000 reward for the murderer.(Mitch did this)
